How Understanding Cleanroom Gowning Protocols Makes You Da Bomb

First things first. You need a basic grasp of cleanroom classifications. Cleanrooms are classified according to the level of purity that is in the air in that enclosed environment. Gowning Protocol Preparation
While not all cleanrooms are also sterile, we will discuss donning protocol in a clean and sterile environment.
Before starting the gowning process, employees must put away coffee cups, thermoses, cell phones, coats and purses in lockers outside of the gowning theater. This is considered the dirty side of the gowning room. Gum should be disposed of and jewelry or watches removed. Shoes should have carefully crossed a sticky mat at the entrance and will cross one or two more sticky mats throughout the gowning and entrance process.
Stage 1
Following the top-down procedure, don a sterile bouffant and beard cover. Tuck all hair inside. Add sanitized safety goggles. Wash hands with soap and water for 15 seconds, using a wall-mounted dryer to dry them. If required, use sanitizer or skin disinfectant. Don’t wave hands in the air to dry them. Put on donning gloves. These will be replaced with cleanroom gloves after the donning process is completed. Don disposable booties.
Stage 2
Enter the gowning room by carefully crossing its sticky mat. Put on cleanroom hood by touching only the inside of the hood. Completely cover the bouffant. Apply your face mask. Remove the coveralls from their sterile bag by grabbing it at the neck. Put them on over the booties using proper protocol of sitting on the sterile bench and not letting the coveralls touch the floor. Check yourself in the mirror for compliance.
Stage 3
Remove your donning gloves and dispose of them without touching the trash can. Wash and dry hands again following protocol. Put on cleanroom gloves and pull them over the sleeves of the coveralls. Don’t touch any exposed skin with gloved hands from here on. Cross over a sticky mat and enter the decontamination unit. It is now safe to enter the cleanroom with its specially HVAC controlled and filtered environment.
